Happy birthday Hema Malini

Actress, producer, director and dancer Hema Malini turned 64 today.

Born as Hema Malini Chakravarty into a Tamil family, she started her career opposite the late Showman of Bollywood, Raj Kapoor in SAPNO KA SAUDAGAR.

The actress won her first Filmfare Award for her movie SEETA AUR GEETA where she was cast opposite Dharmendra and Sanjeev Kumar in a double role. 

She starred in films like SANYASI, DHARMATMA, PRATIGYA, SHOLAY, TUM HASEEN MAIN JAWAN, NAYA ZAMANA and others. Her role as Basanti in SHOLAY became one of the most popular character in Bollywood films and the film became a blockbuster hit. This diva of Bollywood was bold enough to portray such roles which other actresses of her time refused to do. She played the role of a young widow in ANDAAZ and in LAL PATTHAR she played a character with negative shades. 

After taking a break from films for a number of years, Hema made a comeback with BAGHBAN in 2003 where she was cast opposite Amitabh Bachchan.

Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor now a married couple

Bollywood's star couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor had a registered marriage today. According to reports, the three witnesses to the marriage were Kareena's father Randhir Kapoor, mother Babita and Saif's mother Sharmila Tagore. The marriage took place at Khan's Bandra residence.

The celebration will continue and the couple is likely to have a reception at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel on Tuesday evening. A 'nikaah' ceremony will take place at Khan's ancestral home Pataudi Palace in Haryana on Oct 17, reports said. All these celebrations and ceremonies will be followed by a grand reception in Delhi on Oct 18.

On Monday night, the hottest couple of the Indian film industry had a 'mehendi' ceremony and a dinner party at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Mumbai. It was attended by family members and close friends.

CHAKRAVYUH is very intense, says Arjun Rampal

Promos of CHAKRAVYUH are on and even though there are close to half a dozen characters occupying the frames, it is apparent that the Prakash Jha film seems to be centered on Arjun Rampal v/s Abhay Deol conflict. Add to that the presence of some heavy weight actors and one does expect some intense encounters in the drama that unfolds.

"In that sense the whole film is very intense," immediately says Arjun, "See, Abhay is an actor who comes with a lot of expertise. His character is much layered and it goes through a huge metamorphosis. I like the way he has come up in his career with such different kind of work which is very different from the rest. As a person he is a very chilled out guy and I had fun working with him."

Elaborating on his other co-stars in the film, Arjun adds, "On the other hand Manoj's (Bajpai) character is very hard hitting. Om's (Puri) part has been woven quite beautifully in the film as well. See, Prakash has a knack of bringing in multiple characters under the same roof and giving them good acknowledgment and wonderful depth. It is no different in CHAKRAVYUH and the whole team has come together beautifully." 

While such statements in a multi starrer setup aren't quite unexpected, one waits to see how Jha, who showed his prowess of handing multiple characters amazingly well in RAJNEETI, gets it right all over again with CHAKRAVYUH, which releases all over on Wednesday, 24th October.
